“Drawing and design have been the constant center of my life as long as I can recall. ‘If you can draw well, everything will be O.K.’. This is a quote from my father in law, my best friend, fellow designer and a World War 2 prisoner of war camp survivor, Tony Salari. I began my formal design career directly out of Art Center (four days) with the Navel Undersea Warfare Center, a department of the US Defense Department. Doesn’t sound like fun but it was very exciting and challenging.

Later as a professional toy designer I created the brands Masters of the Universe for Mattel and the first and second toy launch of Eastman and Laird’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for Playmates. I also adapted the toy brands for films such as King Kong, Flash Gordon, Tarzan and Men in Black. In micro scale I developed Star Wars play sets, NBA, NFL (All-stars) figures and Starship Troopers figures and sets. As a Senior Vice President I led the launch of Street Sharks, Attack Pack and the collectable Hot Wheels segment.

My wife Rebecca Salari-Taylor and I redesigned Skin Diver Magazine for Peterson Publications and went on to produce various magazine, book covers and posters, including posters and covers for the Olympics and Medical/Surgical professional journals. As a team we developed the Sew Perfect toy, accessories and packaging for Mattel then many and various Barbie accessories and vehicles. For the general consumer product market I designed table top Dinner Ware styles and accessory sets still on the market. I did product design concepts for Icon vehicles and Becca jewelry (Rebecca’s company). I taught design and drawing at Cal State (nights) for six years and later at Otis. I really consider myself more of a student than a teacher.”

“Born and raised in Los Angeles,California by an artist father and a mexican candy maker mother. My path towards design was a straight one, no other options considered. I went to college to learn my craft there and from working in Design studios my Father worked in the 1960’s. Received my Masters degree while teaching at public schools. In the late 70’s started a design studio with Mark Taylor clients included Disney, Petersen Publishing, Mattel Toys, NBC and similar entertainment companies. I’ve been associated strongly with the toy industry, Pacific Edge Design (my studio) concentrated mainly on toy design and all the peripherals such as graphics, packaging, displays.

I was Creative director for LJN Toys ( now Jakks Pacific) and during this time (‘80’s- ‘90’s) I created a jewelry design business which was called Becca design. It was enjoying a nice steady placement in high end boutiques, hotels and cruise and travel venues. I was approached to teach toy design at Otis college of Art and Design in 2006 and was soon promoted to Assistant Chair of the Toy Design Department where I have been for 7 years.

My career is forever linked to my husband Mark Taylor as we have played musical chairs within the industry. I have worked on Mark’s projects along with him producing graphics. (Yes, MOTU Grayskull Castle labels). Mark and I met in graduate school and have been together for 39 years. My clients throughout the years have included, Mattel, Playmates, Entertech, LJN Toys, Lanard Toys, Tomy Toys, Disney, Creative Circle, Hasbro et al.”

Emiliano Santalucia was born and currently lives in Palermo, Italy. He started his career as a comic book artists working on the 2002 Masters of the Universe comic book by MVCreations. After the license expired, Emiliano worked on Transformers and G.I.Joe comics, then moved to design the covers for the Masters of the Universe and Princess of Power DVD for BCI Eclipse. The work on the DVD continued for almost 3 years, creating art for a multitude of animated series DVD releases, like Flash Gordon, Bravestarr, MOTU 2002 and The Real Ghostbusters.

In 2008, he decided to use the knowledge he acquired working close to so many toy lines and try his luck as a concept designer for the toy industry. Since then, he has been working as a freelance for Hasbro, on all their major brands and not only on toy concepts, but also on animated series and movies. Two Transformers books to which Emiliano has contributed with his illustrations will be published in 2013: The Covenant of Primus and Transformers – The Ultimate Pop-Up Universe.

“The Masters of the Universe have been with me almost for all my life. MOTU is with me every day and it is what inspired my career. I’m honored to have been involved both professionally and as a fan with the brand for all these years. Getting to interact with so many people around the world and meet so many friends and creators and has been the biggest pay-off of years of loyal passion!”

Eure Katharina”

“Hello to all wonderful Convention organizers, visitors and friends!

To those who don’t know me, I’m a MOTU-fan from Finland. Been a regular He-Man.org visitor for over 13 years and currently a Moderator on the 2002-forums. While I grew up watching Filmation cartoon, I have a great fondness for the 2002 He-Man, because I was very fortunate to voice Captain Miro in the Finnish-Dub, as well as help out Val Staples and Emiliano Santalucia with background-coloring on the minicomic adaptation of the MYP He-Man #40th un-produced episode.

There is a blog ‘The Essential MYP He-Man’ that I have dedicated to the cartoon and comic in my spare time. I have also done color-work for James Eatock’s wonderful “Cereal:Geek”-magazine. Last year I created ‘Masters Comic Cast’ that talks about all the new DC Comics and MOTUC minicomics. I also participate in ‘Global Masters’ podcast and lastly I have my own video-series ‘Scrolls of Eternia’ that takes a look at different character origins, comic/cartoon reviews and much more!

Look forward to meeting everyone at Grayskull- Con 2013!

Good Journey!”

“Hi there, my name is Daniele Spezzani, but I‘m commonly known as Danbrenus, I‘m a freelance artist from Italy. It would be hard to say early MOTU boxart and minicomics didn‘t influenced my whole life from that far 1983 on… Alfredo Alcala was my first ever art teacher and my love for things such as detailed anatomies and fantasy backgrounds came from those little masterworks he drew for Mattel.

Now I live doing art for hire, every kind of art, from tattoo flashes to advertising images to whatever needs a guy who can draw. I‘ve found myself pretty alone in the field as everyone else seems to work esclusively with photoshop and similar thing, while I‘m still stuck with pen, brushess and watercolors…

I‘m a little old-fashioned you could say. I‘m a little bit known on the web for my fan art for MOTU and Transformers. For MOTU I drew a whole lot of pin-ups, until I feel confident enough to write and draw a whole minicomic, ‘the triumph of Skeletor’, based on the early four minicomics by Don Glut and Alfredo Alcala, it takes on from there expanding the first MOTU canon ever. A second minicomic followed, ‘battles across Eternia’ and then I was contacted by the staff of the Grayskullcon to draw their esclusive minicomic. And now ‘under Grayskull flag’ has seen the light with the imprimatum by Don Glut. Quite an accomplishment for me if you ask me.”

‘Masters of the Universe’, ‘The Real Ghostbusters’, ‘Transformers’, ‘C.O.P.S’ und viele andere kulturrelavante Importserien färbten die langen Samstagmorgende.
